Enrollment (Domestic)
Recruitment: strengthen pipeline through more aggressive funnel management (FYR/TR)
- No new updates
Retention Management: increase first-year rate to 90%, six-year graduation to 70%
- Finalize Scholarship Posting and Award Packaging received to-date prior to first Fall 2014 bills
- Emails/Self-Service notification to all students who need to complete MPN and/or Loan Entrance Counseling
Technology: establish systems and structures necessary to achieve enrollment results
- SIS runs the Federal Direct Loan posting and validation steps
- Install critical fix to resolve issues with the last critical fix that dealt with the SULA implementation
Yield Management: solidify/improve yield rate from admit to enrolled
- FAS participation in Orientation events

Enrollment (International)
Recruitment: enhance Unit’s planning and accountability
- Updates to online application are well underway and we should achieve our target date for opening Summer/Fall 2015 applications by mid-August
- IRUA recruitment team had a productive meeting with MarCom photo & digital media staff to strategize best opportunities & themes for international representation in university publications (digital & print)
International Partnerships: establish collaborations and articulation agreements
- IRUA admissions team has continued work with our Shorelight admissions partners to admit new students into the KU Academic Accelerator Program & academic programs. A total of 55 applications had been received by 07/19/2014, with 25 admitted to the KUAAP cohort & 21 admitted directly as pre-KUAAP students for Fall 2015.
- Collaboration with the Chinese Student & Scholar Friendship Association , the newly-launched Greater China KU Alumni Chapter & KU Alumni Association supported a second yield reception in Beijing, where newly-admitted Chinese students, Chinese alumni & current students were brought together to get excited about KU.
Visiting Student Programs: develop and implement
- The Office of International Programs signed an educational services agreement with Chung Hua University, Taiwan to host visiting students
- An agreement Chile is in process for hosting visiting students from Universidad Católica Silva Henríquez
- Pre-arrival information was distributed to all new visiting students
Traditional Recruitment Activities: increase and diversify investments
- Recruiter Shannon O’Hagan attended the annual OACAC conference (Overseas Association for College Admissions Counseling) where she was able to meet many international high school counselors from over 100 countries throughout the world
- Recruiter O’Hagan departed for a 2-week recruitment trip to India, during which time she will visit 25-30 local high schools & participate in yield/recruitment receptions in 5 cities (Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, & Hyderabad)
- IRUA coordinated with ISS in electronic delivery of pre-arrival information has been distributed to all new visiting students with information about housing, orientation, and pre-arrival tips
